BMW performance brakes question

Hi guys I called BMW and asked about having the performance brakes fitted and they said that they will only fit 07 models onwards.

Is that right? I can't see why they would fit an 07 and not an 05?

That's rubbish. The BMW Performance Brake kit will fit your 320d, no problem

Cheers mate, I was checking the part numbers on RealOEM and came to the same conclusion, the only thing is that the rears only fit on the LCI models.

On a different note, I was also told that I cannot upgrade my SE seats to Sports seats in the car???? I cant see why this is the case, as I wanted to get a set I saw on ebay but now I dont know what to do......

I can only think that as the sports seats have electrical adjustment and pneumatic side bolsters the SE doesn't have the correct loom to power them. As you can specify sports seats as an option on the SE I would have thought that's nonsense too.

Hi dude.

If you don't have the correct wiring and put in fully electric seats then the bolster control and rail control wouldn't work. If you put in E90 non-LCI style M-sport seats (like mine) then it should all be fine, but again its the side bolster I'm not too sure about. I found some info on the following topic, which fine is US spec, but gives a bit of info..

theres also a very good how-to guide, and there are hints in other searches that it would all work but re-coding is necessary, I don't know if thats true.

I suppose worst comes to worst, buy them - and if something fundamental cannot be made to work just sell them again to someone who doesn't know better?

oh and re the brakes. who would you get them fitted by if you bought them? stealer?

I was looking at the performance brake kit. Ant from speed religion can get them in reasonably cheap but doesn't fit them any more... I know its not a "real bbk" (I've heard of someone melting their whole setup after 4 laps of the ring.. Then again Matt did the same with a set of stoptechs.. so maybe thats just par for the course) but its a huge upgrade from stock.

Thanks for the replies, I will check out those threads, I also see the issue as being the electric side bolsters, but I was led to beleieve that as the airbag is in the seat that the car would dissengage all the airbags if it could not recognise even one airbag (or thought it was missing)

Yes, I melted my BMW BBK over 4 laps of the 'Ring However, the APs have now done about 105 laps, and I'm still on the original discs with not a teeny bit of warp or bind in sight.... Some kits are better than others!

However as an upgrade to 320d brakes, the BMW BBK will be brilliant, and I've said all along that for fast road use they are more than adequate.

Aha! It was you Tone. Wasn't sure if I read it here or on EvoTechnik.

TBH, For the price Moe can get the setup for - I'd be alll over it. I'm very interested. Perhaps nearer Christmas I might go for them myself..
