Wheel spacers

Anyone have any experience with wheel spacers on an E90 with the standard M Sport wheels and bodykit? I am keen to widen the rears by as much as is sensible without modifying the arches.

How big can I go without rubbing the arches? And how far can I push it before the front's look unbalanced?

Answers on a postcard please

I had eibach 15mm rear and 12mm front had no problems at all, but when I first fitted just the 15mm to the rear it made the car feel a bit floaty.
These were fitted to bmw 18" rims and sport suspension and had no rubbing on the arches.

increading just the rear width will give you more understeer I think?

I'm a bit twitchy about doing the fronts as some people say this can affect the steering and cause vibrations at speed but I imagine the car might look a bit odd with just the rears done.

I'm half hoping that a side effect of the spacers will be to widen the wheels enough so that it doesn't tramline so much on the roads

Any pics of before and after will/wrighty?

No sorry have no pic's but the front spacers did not cause any vibrations or tramlining. Like i say the only problems which i felt was when only spacers were fitted to the rear.
If you look up user booforty and look at his posts you should be able to find some pic's of his 330i with spacers fitted.

I have H&R hucentrics which you need to avoid vibrations. Eibach do similar. 20mm on the rear. These are bolted to the hub and retain standard bolts to the spacer. 12mm on the front which need longer bolts. I also lowered the car on H&R Sport springs. No issues with rubbing, understeer or oversteer from standard or vibration at speed. Done nearly 30,000 miles since fitting in November 08. Although I tried to remove last night before the service today and couldn't get them off. Probably need a 'puller' of some sorts. Went through the service no problem as well

There may be a pic posted in the SW meet thread. Matt did take a pic of my car next to his. The spacer makes a huge difference to how mine sat v's his.

I couldn't find boofortys pics but having measured the gaps between tyre and arches I think I will go for 20mm rear and 15 on the fronts

Love your garage pics carrerarsr

I would suggest measuring up the gap you have between the wheel and the fender just to make sure you have enough clearance to go with a spacer, and then go with the size to accommodate the wheel gap.

It's easier to do that then guessing around for it. If you need help, send me a PM, we have spacers in stock!
