Weird rpm drop

I can't recall how long this has been happening but sometimes it happens when I'm in 2nd gear and I let go of the accelerator between 1500 and ~2300 rpms. The rpms drop to around 1000 and it feels like someone is putting on the brakes. I'm usually never in bumper to bumper traffic but tonight it reminded me of this issue. Anyway know what is going on? All other gears work fine. Second works fine if I ever feel like just taking off for the hell of it.

My freinds 550 was doing the same thing. He brought it in and they told him it was the gas he was using. Not sure if they fixed it though.

I use 93 all the time. Never below 91. Also it is only 1 gear doing it.

Manual transmission? If so, and if I understand your story correctly, it sounds like the clutch is slipping / about to go.

Do you notice it in other gears? I know you said it's just 2nd gear, but really pay close attention -- if accelerating in 1st or 3rd or accelerating then letting off the gas, do you ever notice the RPMs acting wonky like this? If it's your clutch slipping, you'll see that.

It is an automatic. I've never noticed in 1st or 3rd.
