Grinding noise in rear
Good afternoon,
I have a 2007 335 coupe. I have had it about a year, and had some aftermarket M3 reps on the car. I began hearing a grinding type of noise that sounded like it was coming from the rear. It sounds like a worn out bearing. I took the car to BMW, and they told me my front wheels were bent, and that's what the vibration was. I got a set of 189s with RFTs, and put on the car. The M3 reps were not bent, and the car still makes the noise with the new wheels on it. Has anyone else had a similar problem? |

My car is currently at the dealer for the same issue. I just purchased my '06 330i a month ago and noticed a slight grinding noise that would then change to a "slight shuddering" sound only upon acceleration. I took it in a week ago and they told me it may be the left rear run-flat tire. So instead of spending $400+ dollars on a single RF tire I decided to replace all 4 tires with non-run flats and I still had the grinding noise. I took it back to the dealer and they just called me this morning and told me they are ordering a new rear differential since they can't perform repairs on them. I didn't argue since the vehicle is still under warranty. I'll let you know if this solves the problem.
