Passenger side rear view mirror tilt feature stopped working

Noticed yesterday my passenger side mirror doesn't tilt when I put the car in reverse. It doesn't matter what side I slide the mirror switch to. My guess is this is a wiring glitch, and the dealer can diagnose. Not a big deal, but a nice feature to have. Any thoughts? Thanks

is the mirror adjust button set to modify the left mirror?
if the little black button is set to the right mirror then the tilt feature wont work.
I think that has already been said, but im not quite sure if that was what he meant.

If you have someone else to help you, have someone shift it into reverse and see if the motor tries to move the mirror. If it does, then you know the problem's in the mirror, if it doesn't, the problem's in the wiring.

move the mirror button and then it will activate the tilt feature when you put the car in reverse.

That happened to me a few days after I got my car. I was about to call the dealer when i tried moving the mirror adjust button to the left...low and behold, the reverse tilt function began working again.

There should be a central position for the button like most cars have.

There is a known issue with the wiring connectors on the mirror motors getting corosion and causing this issue. If it doesn't work with the selector button in either position, take it to the dealer.

I had this issue and the thing would tilt down, but would never come back up.

Did this again, and it started working again. Kind of a fluke it stopped for couple days. Maybe the car needed to reset itself. Appreciate the feedback, and help.

Hey guys, same issue here with my "old" European 2005 118i (e87). I tried everything but nothing seems to work. I noticed that the electric motor still works (I can adjust the angle). But I don't hear any sounds of an electric motor "trying" to put something in motion when I put the car in reverse. Is that switch located in the door? Reverse lights still work. Or somewhere in the mirror itself? Thanks for your support.

You said there is a known issue with the wires. My mirror tilts, but is it supposed to dim as well? I have the auto dimming as my rear view and drivers side dims, but not my passenger mirror. Thoughts anyone?
