CAT BACK

I have my car booked in for a cat back 335 style exhaust. Where is the cat on the e90s?

The rear silencer is comming out, the guy said that they would cut it from just after the box in the middle of the car.
what is this box known as, is it the silencer?

Front silencer. Cat is up front with DPF.

DPF?

So there are 2 Silencers on the 330s?
Rear which is at back, and front which is around the middle of the car?
Does anyone have any pics?

I would only have the exhaust cut at the end of the transmission tunnel - I wouldn't want any increase in noise with this conversion.

I only had a single back box on my last diesel (without the cat too) and the noise was not bad at all. I went for the largest back box possible to ensure the noise was kept to a minimum. I have to say that on the motorway the car was about the same as standard. Only when you booted it is it growel slightly!

I am sure noise will not be a problem - especially if you are keeping the cat.

Where is the transmission tunnel?

I am still a little confused as to where the cat is on my car. This is the rear silencer the whole of this section is comming out.

Below is what i think is the front silencer is this correct. The guy that will be doing it said he will cut it after the box so this box will remain where it is. Is this box the silencer or cat?

That's the intermediate silencer in your last pic. The cat/dpf is right up by the turbo.

The transmission tunnel is the dividing hump running along the centre of the car, between the driver and passenger. Runs all the way back to under the rear seat bases.
