OIL capacity 335d etc.

Anybody know?

How much oil for an oil change?
It's not in the manual and can't find it on the web.

Which filter?

Why can't I use cetane boosters and additives that I used with other diesel cars? i.e. Stanadyne, Power Service, and my favorite DIECYL PLUS from Total.

THANKS!

More like 7 litres iirc.

Only use genuine parts or OEM sourced parts - MANN are an OEM supplier to BMW - they're not expensive.

With modern diesels there is little need to use these wonder additives. I wouldn't, anyway. Save the cash and spend it on beer!

I always thought my 330d had a 6.5 litre oil capacity. After changing the oil myself and realising that it was more than this, I find out the 330d has a 7.5 litre capacity.

I'm sure the 335d will be similar or more....

I have used Miller Pro Sport 4 cetane booster since new with no problems at all. Why would it cause a problem as long as you dont overdose?

I wonder if there are different revisions of the manual.
Mine has no info regarding oil capacity or anything technical.
Not even a tail light bulb size

Yes i do, have used it for about 4 years now both in the BM and the MG ZT CDTi before it. I also believe that it helps, as claimed, lubricate the fuel pump. This was especially important in the MG as the pumps were prone to fail. Never heard of anyone who used Millers having a pump problem at all and i know my pump was pushed to the limit given how much it was tuned!

I genuinely find that it makes the car smoother and more responsive. Not convinced about the extra MPG claim to be honest. As it also keeps the injectors clean it pays for it's self in the long run.

I used the recommend 3 measures in normal BP/Shell and 1 measure in Ultimate/V-Max as this already has a high centane rating and dosing further gives no benefit.

I used TOTAL Diecyl in another oil burner and the car liked it. The 335d adjusts for the cetane level in the fuel, but the low sulfur fuel sold nowadays also lacks lubrication. I thought an additive would help. I guess 5% Bio-Diesel would also suffice to add lubricity. Perhaps the additive isn't emission system friendly and that is why BMW doesn't approve.

There is a big red warning on the fuel cap NOT to use Bio-Diesel in the 335D. It also states this in the handbook.

Doesn't BMW online approves of a maximum concentration of B5 bio-diesel ?

For my spec (Europe) it states not to use Bio-Diesel, and it is stated on the fuel filler cap. Does your cap display any warning ?

The US spec 335D has additional Urea injection and engine mapping - so it may well be that it is possible with the US versions ?

The fuel filler cap on my 330d seems to indicate no biodiesel or additive, see the writing on it? (Not the best pic)

I have done 2 intermediate oil and filter changes. Both times I needed 8.5 litres. 8 litres fills it up to the middle of the dipstick. the extra half litre puts it to the max level. Thats where I like to leave mine
