Has your 335i ever shown "Engine malfunction, reduced power"?

I am curious to know if anyone has actually made it without ever seeing this message.

I've divided the poll up by mileage to get a little more info than just "yes/no".

There's no poll.

And Yes, even when I was stock. Happens then usually clears itself.

Oooops, forgot to mention "stock folks only please"... It's not quite fair to fault BMW for having faults when the engine has been modified.

It would also be interesting to hear what each person did to get the fault.

For me, it's happened a few times, almost always when doing a run to high rpm.

Haha, it's not always the HPFP... unfortunately I've seen the message on multiple occasions, for different underlying causes.

It just happened to me yesterday, I floored it up to about 5000 rpm and then let go and when it dropped to about 2000 rpm the light came on. Turned the car off, waited 5 min and it was gone... Never came on again.. Should I be worried about this, or let it slide?

Don't bother if it has not come back. If you get the chance check for engine fault codes to see what gave the problem. A code should have been stored as intermittent.

I had similar experience a few times and it was Exhaust Vanos related for me. I took the vanos solenoids out, gave them a cleaning, and installed in opposite positions. Has not come back since.

Regarding Reduced power while stock, I did get this on the track on a hot day..
