On a serious note it is the mounting bracket for the twin intercooler.

Yours doesn't appear to have it Carl.

Your car could be a 'parts bin special' when they ran out of the twin 'coolers on the production line.

What ever it was it looks like it isn't attached there anymore. Has it been nicked? Have you reported your loss to the Police? Are you insured?
