that's kind of tough. TX is so damned big and there is usually a lot going on. Not to mention that the car scene is Austin is lame at best.
IMO, anywhere besides DFW or Houston will probably not get a huge turnout.

I'll be running a triathlon that weekend in Austin (on Monday, Labor Day) so I'll probably show up.

I'm wasn't trying to sound like I want it to fail, so I apologize if someone took it the wrong way.
Besides the big shows like HIN and Heatwave and some cruises I've never heard of any large scale Texas wide euro or BMW event. Trucks? Sure, all the time.

That's the problem...TX is just so damned big and spread out.

I helped organize a meet that rode out of Austin not long ago. We had guys from Houston, Dallas (Blake), and all over central Texas (probably about 20 cars). Some of the best driving roads in Texas are around the Austin area.

Yep, that's the 'Hill Country'. Did it on my BMW motorcycle a couple of years ago, and had a blast. Those roller-coaster roads are incredible. I'd assume they're great fun on a nice car too. Unfortunatey, getting there is no fun (500+ miles) so I'll have to enjoy them vicariously .

I agree that I have never heard of any huge car meets in Texas. the majority of these happen at tracks, but that doesn't bother me at all. Last edited by JC919; 08-17-2009 at 11:47 PM.. |

Again, not trying to put down the idea. In fact, I would like to see a TX euro event with some national coverage, something like Bimmerfest. I think it would work if the BMWCCA chapters and some of the regional car clubs (like Strictlyea in SATX) would get together. Why not do it at a track like Texas World Speedway in College Station.

^Yeah that's thinking a little big. That's only going to happen in CA or some place close to it.
Harris Hill Road tried to do an M3 only event a couple months ago, but the only four M3s showed up if I recall correctly. Maybe it was b/c it was 104 degrees, but hopefully we could get them to hold the event again in the fall. It doesn't need to be too big and there are four potential tracks off the top of my head. It would be awesome to get a bunch of TX ///Ms on track together. Maybe a few shops and suppliers could get involved as well. This could be a great event and I'll do what I can to help put it together.--JC |
