13K From new and no oil needed

I have had my car for 9 months and covered 13,300 miles, in that time the computer still says that I do not need to add any oil, is that normal??

Service due when it gets to 23,000 or so it says.

Its a 320D ED

Forgive my 'drunkeness' but do you have a dipstick?

Supposedly you dont need to use the dip stick as the OBD tells you when checking the level.

Drunkeness excused, would have had a drink myself but got to collect the girlfriend from the station in 20 mins.

Clear head tomorrow though.

I must also have a 'superior' one as well. All previous diesels I've owned have drunk the stuff! Haven't had to put a drop in this one and I give it a good thrashing every now and then!

just out of interest guys, my 2005 320d has now started to periodioclly (sp) tell me to check oil level (oil can with wave lines under it)?

it came on yesterday during a drivr but wasnt there later on when i went back out. it came on today again but again didnt come on during a later drive, so im guessing its just hovering around the min/low level.

have checked the service history, and the car received an oil change last october at main dealers and on th invoice it states Castrol SLX.

any idea how much i need to pour in?

thanks.

kceire, How about filling it up till its back on the max line on the dipstick. Im assuming it's below the minimum at the moment, hence the warning, So im guessing 1 or more litres

21k - 23 months old - not a drop of oil has been added since i got the car

First service booked in 2 weeks.

Used the dipstick a couple of times to check if all was ok, and it was, so no for me

Never guess!!

I read somewhere, but now cannot find, the difference between min and max is something really quite low. Fill no more than .25l checking dipstick manually. It's better to be under the max line than over.

My old 2006 330D used 1 litre every 5000 miles. This didn't change in the first 60K miles that I owned her. My new 330D LCI has used no oil in the first 7K miles - the level is still on the max mark.
