Can you have speed in the little display???

is it possible to have a digital readout of your speed in the little display window between the speedo and the tack?...

i would really like to have a digital read out of the speed..

sure, as long as you've got cruise control set, and you've changed the speed setting within the last 5 seconds

That's the only way

I could swear that I saw a thread somewhere about the codes you can get to by using your odometer reset button (holding for 15 seconds then toggling through to 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, etc.) I recall there was a speed display. Maybe one of our senior members can recall this and give us the link. For now, I'll keep looking and post if I find it.

OK, I knew I couldn't let it rest 'till I found it. I'm not sure if this will do it exactly (I haven't tested on my own), but it looks like it should do it.
Here is a link to all the items in the "test menu";
http://www.bmw-drivers-data.de/user/...agnosemenu.htm

It looks like 08.01 is what you are looking for.
Good Luck, let me know if it works.

Gotta wonder about 8.00 too: "exact speed." Anyone compared that with the speedo?

The cops pull you over for having speed on your dash. OK, , but I can't believe nobody else picked up on it before me.

I think nobody knows the answer to that question. That web page is the only source and it states that the author doesn't know if this would hurt the car. If you're worried, don't do it. Chances are there are ways to reset things to their original state if you get them messed up, but the key would be finding out how. With dealers struggling to program mainstream options into these new cars, I'd steer clear of experimental fiddling with the computer if I wanted to be 100% safe.

Actually, it's "Don't Panic" the name of my computer support business. The full size image has a torn mouse in his hands.

I do not understand -- I work with apples and have a remote mouse.
Thanks for the killer laugh, definitely in the top ten on the list.
