Where to buy a helmet in Houston?

Anyone know where I can go in Houston to buy a helmet? I know there's a million places online, but I want it to fit right like my bike helmets so I want to try it on. Seems like I can go anywhere and find/try on motorcycle helmets, but car helmets are few and far between.

Any shops in town that will have helmets in stock?

I haven't bought a helmet here in Houston, but I need a new one. I'll probably get on the various manufacturer websites (Arai, Bell, Simpson, etc.) and do a cross-check of their dealers to find one in Houston that carries multiple lines.

I suspect that most dealers in town will be motorcycle/powersport shops that may not carry the style of helmets that we need. If anyone else in Houston wants a helmet as well, perhaps we can combine our purchasing power for a better deal...

No such thing. Same helmets used for motorcycling or car racing. Choose the style you like best and is most comfortable, but make sure it is DOT or Snell certified.

Try Pro AM Racing. Haven't been there in awhile but they usually carry all kind of racing stuff (Recaros, racing helments, etc...). Hope this helps.

Ok dude, I'm going to call you out on this just so that anyone else that finds this thread doesn't take your flat-out-wrong advice. (Where do you get this stuff? Do you just make it up, or assume it's true since it sounds reasonable?)

Car and Motorcycle helmets are very much different. Most (if not all) sanctioning bodies will not let you on the track in your car if show up in a motorcycle helmet. They are tested to different standards of impact and fire resistance.

I know motorcycle helmets are easy to find. I have several. If you read my post, you'd realize that I already know where to find bike helmets.

^You're right they are completely different. While many wear motorcycle helmets to track days, as you've stated they are not always allowed.

I bought my Arai online here:

I got the GP-5K, its light and comfortable.
