Rear brake pad change
Got round to changing rear brake pads today. Light came on some time ago so just monitored pad wear by visual as plenty left on pad. Computer still saying 3000 miles to change. When stripped out still approx 3mm left on pad. Fitted new pads and sensor (BMW) and reset computer, now showing 24,000 to next renewal. Front showing 6,000 to change.

Well done, I had mine changed at the dealer today along with the brake fluid change for £363! I got them changed as soon as the light came on but guess I could have waited a while by the sounds of it.

By the time the light came on there was still 4-5 mm on pad and computer saying 4000 miles, new pad is 10-12mm so plenty left. Is it a BMW ploy to change pads early.

This may be an odd question but have you changed the front pads previously ? My wife's e91 seems to be wearing through the rear pads quicker than the fronts which is a first on any car we've ever owned. I always thought brakes were setup so that the front pads wear sooner.

It's the DSC cutting in that does it. You are all obviously hammering your cars.

Put key in slot dont press clutch, press start button to turn on ignition. After service data displays press mileometer reset, keep pressed till warning triangle is displayed approx 3 secs the most due service is indicated. Scroll using the switch on indicator stalk. Scroll to the rear brakes for example and press on the end of the stalk. Reset should now be displayed press again for approx 3 secs and a little clock is displayed and it resets, display should now show new mileage my rears reset to 24,000 mls.
