Retrofit bluetooth

Just a quick question, is it possible to have the bmw OEM bluetooth kit fitted to an e92 as an aftermarket addition?

Sometimes find myself wishing i had got a car with it installed.

Lots of aftermarkets availble that intergrate well, e.g. parrot.

hi scotgc

I have been looking into this with little joy :-) I presume you want a completely seamless install using the bmw steering controls and display. so far the options look like:

1. parrot or IO - but not seamless

2. mobridge - seamless. i think it is about £700 all done
http://www.caraudioexpress.co.uk/home.php?cat=19

3. orignal bmw harness and equipment. a guy on american ebay does the kit and offers to post it. works out as approx 1000 dollars delivered. then you need to fit and get bmw to code.

if you do pursue an option it would be nice to know how it all fared. i am still in two minds due to the cost + need to code....

There is a part listed in the BMW Accessories catalog.

Basic Bluetooth Handsfree Kit* 84 64 0 441 949 £95

Handsfree kit with voice control operated via multifunction steering wheel and control display.

*Compatibility dependent on vehicle specification

I did not know about this part so had a Parrot CK3000 fitted with a Connect2 interface . This gives me steering wheel control plus voice commands. I have recorded voice prompts for my most used numbers and when I get a call from any of these this is played back to me when the call arrives.
Unfortunately the radio display only shows "Phone Active" and not the callers number. The Parrot Keyboard/knob thing is optional so I did not have it fitted. It cost me about £300 fully fitted but i think you can get the parts for about half that amount.

I got one of these free with my mobile contract:

Just clips over sun visor. Works great! Nice and clear sound and the voice recognition actually works! A very good budget option in my opinion..

I would imagine tha6t this is possible as it was definitely on E46. Ive even done a conversion to Bluetooth on a 1998 740i and it worked flawlessly. Its always worth checking out www.partsauction.co.uk, that's where I go for my parts, sometimes they have the full Bluetooth retrofit kits in stock and are really good on price.

Had a Nokia kit fitted in my E93 vert, combined with a brodit mount to hold the phone, and a telemute interface to link the kit with the car - all plug and play - no cables to cut etc as the expensive harness pass-thru cables are all included. Mutes the stereo and feeds the audio through the front speakers.

It is in the classifieds but now on ebay.....
