The END of BMW Driver Training in Aus!

Just returned from the Advanced II course in Phillip Island where I was informed by Geoff Brabham during his course wrap up that "this is the last year the BMW Driver Training will be held at this stage!" Canned, by BMW Aus due to "costs", like other programmes within the organisation that have had "budget" cutbacks!

The bad news is that there are maybe 1 or 2 places left (just checked availability online) for Eastern Creek... that's it.

NOT HAPPY JAN!

He mentioned that if you were not impressed, disappointed or wanted to take a course then email:

bmwdrivertraining@bmw.com.au (don't have a go at these guys though they just run the training)

AND let your BMW dealer Principals know about it too

Oh yeh, if you are buying or have an M car you will get a complimentary voucher for the training, guess what it is no longer valid due to the courses being demise! Get MAD.

That's me!! As I replied on the 1addicts forum to your post, I reckon it's a bit short sighted. My M3 purchase was directly influenced by the Advanced II course I did in 2008.

Imagine if one year after you bought an M3, you got a complimentary driver training in an M5? Firstly, none of us would turn it down and secondly your brain would surely be in M5 mode when you came to your next purchase.

Imagine if every time you put your E90, E92 or E93 non-M in for a service you got the choice of an M3 for your day hire car?

I read a couple of years back when Mercedes Benz launched the C63 they invited a hundred or so good customers and potential customers to an all-day track thrash-a-thon complete with good food, professional drivers etc. I believe the event generated 75 sales ( correct me if I'm wrong). That's marketting!!

Garage List
A sign of the times I suppose, the costs must have been huge but I am sure everyone will agree, it was always a great day out.

Commence rant.

Confirmed today as well that they wont be offering more courses. I’m supposed to be getting a call back from “someone” senior at BMWA to explain the matter. The first explanation was that the course was “complimentary” with the implication that no one had a leg to stand on. They seemed to get a bit more responsive when I asked whether they thought that they had a legal issue for a course that is worth $1200 off the street when it was part of the original purchase. Oh yeah, I think that they also got a bit more interested when I mentioned the X5 that’s order as well. In point of fact its not the money its the lack of good faith involved – this may get very interesting for BMWA. Talk about brand damage. This is the sort of crap I’d expect from other manufacturers. Not happy Jan !

End rant.

I'm still waiting for BMWA to get back to me about how they will replace the complimentary course I have missed out on since they are not coming to WA this year. I bought my E90 M3 on 2 June and the cut off was 20 June. I asked for a $1200 credit on service labour costs but I obviously haven't heard back - don't expect I will.

Gents... Spoke to my dealer principal today. He was extremely helpful. The news is as you all know it. No more courses. However the thought is that there will be some potential courses for next year, however this information won't be available until November/December.

On the off-hand that BMWA don't conduct/run the courses, they have assured me that I will be compensated appropriately - I love my dealer - they are an excellent bunch of people (with a great culture!)

Stating the obvious they could always pay for you guys to attend a course somewhere else...say Mt Cotton on the Gold Coast. You'd have to drive a 911 of course but I reckon that would be OK with most!

Not yet.

I'm weighing up my options I can't decide which one at the moment.. It's down to one or the other.

Good to hear Luke! When you want to go for a blast in the C2S let me know. For everyday use I'd say it's the one to get, although you'd probably be happier in a PDK than my 6-speed.

Thanks!

I'm looking at either a new 4S for every day driving or a GT3.

Who are you dealing with? I dealt with Dean Williams in Collingwood. Very good.
