320d M Sport - does it have tilt down passenger mirror when reversing??

Hi

I hope someone might be able to help me out here. I recently brought this car and had it about a month now. A work colleague of mine has brought an almost identical car too but his is petrol. He was showing me how his passenger mirror tilts down when he goes in reverse gear. I thought mine would have this so gave it a try but didn't work. I read the manual and tried again but nothing. So I checked with the dealer and the guy says mine definitely has it, he reckons my key fob might need configuring to turn it on. Is this true? Does anyone know if this is a standard feature or optional extra? If I take it to dealer, will they set it for me and I assume it will be free as the car is under warranty?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks

Mine doesn't have leccy seats and does it. I think it's linked with the electric mirror adjuster left/right selector. The selector either needs to be left or right for it to work; can't remember which though.

i'm sure my work colleague doesn't have leccy/memory seats either.

the dealer and the book says put the mirror selector switch to drivers side position for it to work - but doesn't!

Mine doesn't do that im sure you have to have the memory seat option for it to work like 'creepy coupe' said.

No, mine's a 330d but didn't think that would make a difference. I don't have memory seats but do have folding mirrors if that makes a difference.

If you have either full electric seats OR powerfold mirrors, the passenger mirror dips in reverse.

I wouldn't worry about it anyway, it's a completely pointless function that annoys me more than anything else. On the rare occassion you need it just dip the mirror yourself. My wife always switches it on so when I go to reverse all I can see is the road

If you have a key each and memory seats, it retains each others settings.

I find it very useful as I have to park next to the kerb quite a lot. The option I like is the camera underneath the mirror so you can see the kerb on the screen, next car

On mine (2008) it is part of the folding mirrors option. Anything that gave folding mirrors gives dipping mirror which might be why some have it with electric seats etc etc.

Also, if you have all electric seats but no powerfold, the mirror can still dip.

Whether the mirror dips or not is set by the position of the mirror selector switch. The setting is not saved on the key fob.
