Thumbs down I went to SA today to trade for 335i.

Well, I brought my Black Sap... 330i about two months ago. It has 2200 miles on it.
It has almost every options. excepts PDC, REAR, SUNSHADE and ACTIVE CRUISE.

I went to dealer to trade my 330i to new 335i Sedan. Dealer was asking almost 15K including tax and license after trading my 2 months old baby.

WTF..

I paid 49700 about two months ago including tax & lic.
Now trading value is only 35K

That means I wasted about 7K in a month.

forget it.

I am pissed...........

The fact that it is bordering on the absurd to trade in a car after 2 months given the depreciation after driving it off the lot notwithstanding, it sounds like you paid a high price for the car to begin with. I paid thousands less for a 330xi with everything incl. PDC and shades, just not ACC.

Well, someone who would think of trading in a 2 month old car might go to the service advisor by mistake

Who knows what he was thinking...

if you paid almost $50k Im guessing you must have paid about $5k for taxes and license. That $5k is a given lost. So technically you've lost about $10k. As soon as you drove off the lot it became a used car so that's a few grand off. The dealer, of course, was low balling you so you can figure a few more grand into that. In short- you should look at it as if you've lost about $6k-7k (which is still a boatload of money).

just wondering- why did you buy a 330 when you knew the 335 was coming out???

you knew who he meant, maybe his "SA" stands for sales advisor

to the OP: new cars depreciates something like 15% (don't know the exact figure, but I know it's a double digit figure) AS SOON AS you drive off the lot. If you like to always have 'the latest hot car', you should've leased instead of buying it.

well, since you're so anal about it, no, BMW NA doesn't use those acronyms for all of North America, in Canada, salesmen go by many differnt names, depending on the dealership, e.g. new car specialist, sales consultant..etc.

I'm just saying you don't need to get on his case for saying he went to his SA when you knew full well who he meant.

no, I didn't know what he meant, he said SA and to anyone in BMW NA land, that's service advisor. BMW NA does indeed use those acronyms for all of its territory. It's completely standardized.

JSpira is right - for all of BMW of North America, the terminology is standardized.

I'm thread-jacking here, but go look at the dealership sites on www.bmw.ca each dealership's got their own lingo for salesman, while the Americans use those acronyms you listed. So, no it doesn't apply to all territory. Go have a look for yourself.

p.s. you honestly can say that you didnt' know who he meant, judging by the content in his paragraph? if so, you're not a very logical person then. I'm not looking to start a fight with you, just saying when someone's telling a story, there's no point in nitpicking minute details that have, for all intent & purposes, no bearing on the story itself.

Canada is not part of BMW of North America

No worries, but I read it quickly; in hindsight, I see the context but I was so overwhelmed with the ludicrous premise of someone trading in a 2 month old car that it momentarily didn't click.

Your options:-

1) Keep the damn car and calm down. Your car is as it was when you bought it - awesome. Pick up a used 335i in a year or two.
2) Sell the damn car privately. You'll get more than the dealer will ever offer.
3) Trade the damn car as above and watch the dealer take your lunch. (And your snack. And your dinner. And your girl.) Seriously if you're going to trade, shop around first.
4) Push the damn car off a cliff and claim insurance.

It sucks that the 335 is out so soon after buying your car, but if you had done your homework, the rumor mill was rife with 335 talk.

dude u got robbed... I got my car in AUG 2005, and I got all the options except for PDC, Sunshade, and the active cruise, but I paid 44,500 including everything... your SA didn't tell you about the new E92 when you went there to buy your E90? He/she must be a damn good salesman.
