It had the potential to look so much better.

It's too round, too feminine. There's not enough detail in the rear and the front doesn't seem very imposing and/or elegant. The sides look chunky too. Why couldn't they take a hint from the SLR Stirling Moss?

Honestly, it looks like a dodge viper with a MB front and rear end grafted on. I'm severely disappointed with this looks of this car. To me, they got lazy and just made a swoopy and sporty shape without any kind of attention to the fine details of automotive design that MB is usually very keen with. The SLR certainly has alot more attention to stylistic detail and this car is nowhere near a descendant to the famed gullwing in terms of automotive styling talent. Its a shame really as i'm sure this car is an amazing performance vehicle from behind the wheel.

At first glance the headlights reminds me of an R35.

Things never go well when companies try to build a modern interpretation of their old icons. Mercedes should have just let the new talent go crazy.

Maybe Milquetoast but i still like it, just not more than a DB9.

I think it's very interesting to look at except for the back-end, reminds me of the Acura CL. I love the pic of the car from high-up, but it's an angle you'll never see it from in person

+1.....I totally agree on the bland nature of the car. Stirling moss "ques" on the SLS would have been great.

But I know what Mercedes are trying to do on this car. They wanted to keep it simple with just a similar A,B, C pillars design to the previous classic "Gullwing".

It's a love and hate design. And most people who aren't car geeks will like it.

Unfortunately, I think it doesn't look that bad in red.

First drive reviews show the car to be great (visually and performance), but only in some pics it looks good to me. I know the car is not supposed to be aggressive, but imposing and classy, I just wish the rear bodywork had more detail and sharper edge.

That said, in the pics it looks good, it looks really good!

I heard it drives superbly, too. I just wish they went back and revised the lower ends of the front bumper, sculpted the sides a little more, and went about doing the rear a little differently.

Maybe it'll look better in person, as is the trend with pretty much everything nowadays.

Classy, but not stirring.

Park any Lambo next to it and it'll be invisible. Unfortunate.

I think without the MB symbol and the stripe on the grill it would look much more aggressive.

It looks like a re-bodied viper to me.

The back end is terrible.
