Who steals a shark fin?!?!

So I parked my car last night as usual, come back today, and the shark fin is gone! At first I think that maybe it just blew off or something on the highway, but upon closer inspection on the left side there are two dents in the roof that someone used as leverage to get under the adhesive and pry the thing right off.

I have no idea what they would be after, the entire assembly with the chips is still there, and I don't even have nav!!

Has anybody heard about shark fin theft? Everything else was fine, no signs of forced entry, xenons still there, wheels still there, but no more shark fin and two new dents!

That leads me to my next question, I dont mind if the tiny scratches remain (the paint held up pretty well) but where should I take this to get fixed in the somerville or cambridge area? I was recommended to go to Dick's autobody in Somerville by BMW Peabody. From my guess, it will just require two dent removals without painting and then the new sharkfin...

That's even worse than someone stealing the lip spoiler of a Civic hybrid...

apparently BMW shark fins are in somewhat of a demand as a cosmetic addition to other makes and models. I don't think it came off that easily, seems like a crowbar type job.

Good lcuk. Hope you find a good body shop. I know a lot of the Euro car people use Sanssosio Auto Body in Natick Sansossio Auto Body

Will keep my eyes open for Hondas with 1-series fins in the area.

Yep - they are only stuck on with tape. I hope this doesn't catch on.

Nope - just tape. There was a DIY on this forum a few weeks ago. I was surprised that it is only a stick on.

Here is the awesome handywork. Also, it was not an isolated incident as a black 325xi that parks near me had the fin stolen as well from the same side and with the same device.

Put a decoy car there and have a sniper on the roof. That will fix the sonofabitch!

Good thing you're only looking out for Hondas!! Honda drivers are the only ones that do this type of stuff, right?
