Question for old VW owners

Hi Guys:

I was just wondering if any of you have thoughts on how the standard E90 stereo stacks up against the upgraded Monsoon system in the Jetta/Golf 4's.

I would be interested in some thoughts on this as well. I have a Passat with the Monsoon system, is this the same one as in the Jetta?

At least in terms of speaker placement and sound imaging, the E90's got the Monsoon system beat. 6 speakers vs 10 on the bimmer, including two subwoofers.

My test drive car had the Logic 7 not the standard system. Plus I really didn't feel comfortable cranking it up with the salesman there.

Had a '03 Passat v6 4Motion with the Monsoon System. I was dissapointed, thinking that it would sound great, but it was just ok. The radio receptions suck. Always had static most of the time. Although I may be a bit critical since I'm use to nice speaker. I had Martin Logans for 10 years ran by tube equipment. If there are any audiophiles out there, your know what I'm taking about
I do think even the non logic 7 sound better that the Monsoon. But that's just me. :rocks:

I had 2002 Jetta and the monsoon system is kinda disapointed to me. My dad had a 2000 Camry w/ JBL system and that system is way much better than VW (haha, Toyota did some good things finally), even the Camry only got 6 speakers, all the bass is mainly coming from rear speakers to create a better sound arrangement for the driver, notice that there is no amplify from stock system.

It really can't compare both system, since E90 got different setting on speakers, but I don't expect there will be a good quality sound on standard audio system, that's why BMW always have Harmon Kardon as an option

I got rid of my 2003 Passat with Monsoon for the my new E90. No comparison. The Monsoon is disappointing.
