My 06 is even worse. I have large sections of grey showing thru black. It looks like waterever coloration process (paint?) wear off, but I never put anything up there. There are two sets of captive nuts (I think) to remove the peice. Haven't brought it up with my SA to get replaced yet, but the next trip in I'm asking about that and the LED screen on my radio.

i go to the dealership tomorrow to have some recall work done. and i will ask him how much it cost to get fixed. i am under the original owner protection warranty so bmw probably wont cover it. do all bmws use cheap paint and cosmetic materials? i am tempted to get rid of this thing and go get a lexus or mercedes.

i went to the dealership and he said that a body shop could take them off and paint them. or i could get some rusteoleum or krylon flat black paint and mask the area off and paint them myself. he didnt give me a price quote though so i guess i will ask the bodyshops
