Exclamation PROcede throttle fix is magic!

That is the only explanation! I just drove the newest Throttle Delay Fix maps and they are easily the most quantifiable improvement to the car since the procede was installed in it. Absolutely unbelievable. The torque is there INSTANTLY after the shift. The only thing I can think to relate it to is an e60 M5 with the SMG shift level turned up to 6. If you romp on it, you get all the torque you want right when you want it. Incredible. Great work Shiv!

I didn't know what lag everyone was talking about at first... but after uploading the map, it was easy noticeable

Hi guys
I'm assuming you are talking about the the "test6" map I emailed out to the beta group last night.

What you are feeling is a number of things working together to achieve the following goals:

1) Maximize available boost during the no load engine condition that occurs between the shift
2) Minimize throttle closure during the shift
3) Minimize bypass valve venting during the shift
4) Eliminate knock post shift when the next gear re-engages
5) Eliminate the boost spike that wants to occur as the next gear engages

Doing this illustrates why the PROcede has been developed to be what it is and not just a glorified boost controller. The reason we are able to achieve this was because the PROcede offers:

1) FULL control over the wastegate solenoids
We are not just pulling the original wastegate control signal(s) to ground. Instead, we read and re-reactive a modified version of the original signals. This way, we can drive the solenoids less than the original signal, not just more. This is necessary when trying to manage boost level post-shift. Especially when the bypass valves don't open (or open fully).

2) Full timing control (CPS offsetting)
I know the competition claimed that we don't offer timing control. Then when proven wrong, changed to saying that we don't offer direct timing control. Whatever. The PROcede is retarding timing by 7-12 degrees during the shift even. This is very similar, in theory, to an honest-to-God anti lag system. But without the giant explosions that would otherwise happen in the turbocharger exhaust manifold.
The short term ignition retard (lasting just 0.3-0.5 seconds) allows for an instantaneous torque reduction so that the next gear grabs smoothly and without knock. The same smoothening and knock suppression event could be duplicated by boost reduction. However, doing so adds to lag and hinders post-shift torque. This is because torque reduction through timing advance changes can be applied instantly in both directions. Whereas boost level changes are slow to react and ultimately a poor approach when max performance is the goal.

3) CANbus Integration
By reading CAN data directly, the PROcede can monitor (in realtime) things like boost target, boost error, manifold pressure, actual throttle position, etc. which it uses to trigger ON and OFF the Throttle Delay Fix event. Since we don't have to "guess" when the time is right, we can be a lot more focused on the implementation. This is why the feature works so well because we are essentially doing surgery with a sharp scalpel and not a big rusty hammer. As a result, the feature is invisible during normal driving and only shows itself when it is needed.

I know this sounds like a marketing speech but it's all legit. And a little drive is all that it will take you to see what I'm talking about. If you have another tune, try to find the opportunity to drive a PROcede running these new maps. It's a very eye opening experience and probably the biggest real world advancement we've made in the last 2 years as far as actual performance goes.

Cheers,
Shiv

It is much more advanced (see previous post). On the other hand, "lagfix" is a simple boost control feature that marginally reduces boost rise times by holding the wastegates more closed in situations where the factory DME would run them more open.

+1... I havent gotten to try the new maps as ive just gotten back from 3 days in the deep woods.

But the one I got to test (first closed beta rev) was quite explosive on the shifting... Its like adding a new thrust vector to the 6MT

lol.. we've toned it down a bit by, among other changes, adding the ignition retard mid-shift. But the end effect is still the same. But without the big smack in the back of the head

Try the new stuff (test 6) and see how you like it!

Future use 1 enables/disables remote control mapswitching

Future use 2 enables/disables the Throttle Delay Fix feature (if you are running the private beta maps only).

In both cases, 0 turns it off. 1 (or more) turns it on.

Borsig, that star wars-esque sound after the shift is no more in the very latest beta map. Now it's just super smooth, as if it was meant to be. No sound, just instant torque.
