Question about folding mirrors

My passenger's side folding mirror retracts/extends faster than the driver's side. The passenger side will stop, then the driver's side will stop just after. Is this normal?

Mine does the same.
Plus noise is getting significantly louder than passenger side.
Very annoying.

Like how much after? .5 second or 10 seconds? They should be about the same.

Mine are off by about a quarter of a second, I was kind of curious at first, now I just ignore it.

I'm not sure, but maybe the right mirror is on a bit less of an angle so it doesn't have to retract as much which makes it seem like it's doing it faster. Just a complete guess.

Seems to be like that on a lot of cars with folding mirrors. On both our 750i and Ford F350, the passenger is slightly quicker to come in. I'd say it's perfectly normal.

It's like a half second. I'm guessing it's normal, but kind of annoys me.

Anyone know if it's possible to program them to automatically retract up when parking?

1. Passenger side folds quicker because it has less distance to travel (take a close look at them).

2. For a North American vehicle, you have to have a 2006 model with Comfort Access, in which case the care will fold the mirrors upon locking if you hold your fingers on the CA ridges longer for an extra second. The mirrors will unfold when unlocking. If you don't have a 2006 with CA, you are out of luck in North America. Just use the internal button when you park instead.

Mine are close to equal, but not quite.

Now, about automatic, my car is 2006 so it should happen only when I hold the CA ridges for longer. However, mine are now folding everytime I use CA no matter how short I hold the ridges. If the doors lock, my mirrors fold. What's up with that? They stay out if I use the key fob though...

mine does the same. just a slight delay. But what's worse is that my mirror doesnt go back into position. Sometimes after parking, the mirrors would somehow move out of their position and I won't notice until I start driving again. The dealership says nothing is wrong with it.

Dunno...I've never timed them.

As long as they get to where they're supposed to be, does it matter?

My passenger side mirror gets stuck and doesn't fold. Is this an easy fix? Is it something I can do? It tries to fold, but gets stuck in the process.

I remember one stopped working on my dad's 535xi and it was like $1k bill or something crazy, but covered by warranty.

driver's side on mine folds maybe 1 second after the other one is done...
Didnt notice anything about the sound difference tho...

+1, the driver side mirror housing extends further out.

guy at the carwash unfolded mine, and i pressed the button a few times until they got back in sync, but now my driver side one is slower and i think it may open too far because i have to have my mirror maxed out to the inside to see out of it now
