What Is Difference From BMW LL-01 & LL-04 Oils?
any ideas, curious to know. help much appreciated
i believe in europe it is ll-04 and US is ll-02 but what is the difference? formula? is it better?

Well for one, you can't get the 04 in the US.
I tried finding out as well a while ago, but no luck. Someone said it had somethng to do with weather conditions, sounds funny to me.

I think it is the long life rating systems. LL = long life and the different numbers (LL-98, etc..) refer to the year (1998 for example) when the long life standard was established.

Yes...this is it. It has to do with the oil standards that has been set in specific year. For instance the latest approval/update for the oil standards has been given on 2004 ,therefore the latest rating system is LL-04 which will be found only in newer generations oils (like Castrol Edge sport 0-40 or 10-60).
