Dinan Stage 2 or JB+
I have a 2008 E92 Xi...(Auto)
After one year of ownership, I start feel boring about the car... Today I test drove a 2009 E92 Dinan Stage I (Auto), and I had lots of fun! It's a lot better then I thought! It feels stock when RPM below 3000 which is good for my wife. And it's like a different car when RPM above 3000 DTC keeps kick in in lower gears... I heard people says JB+ is similar to Dinan Stage 2....IS that true? I am looking for a simple mod so I don't plan on JB3 yet.... Dinan is a lot more expensive than JB3 but it has warranty and JB + is easy to remove.... Can you guys give me some suggestions???

Well do the math: Dinan $2000, JB+ $280, Jb3 pnp $580. I don't really know what Dinan puts out, but here's a dyno sheeet for JB+ http://www.burgertuning.com/images/j...ta_testing.jpg 340/360 on 93 for $280 looks pretty good to me. I love my JB+, by far the best and easiest mod I've done.

People still consider dinan, lol? I got a jb+ but will be upgrading to jb3 tomorrow. Get a bt tool and take care of the codes yourself.

Get the Jb3
I thought I loved my Jb+... but now that the JB3 has fully adapted, I think the Jb+ was nothing lol

+1 on #4 post for the easy install/remove.
for $300 nothing can get you 50+whp/wtq except a JB+ also for the reliability

LOL, how are you comparing the two? totally different price ranges...
You know, you could get a used JB3 for under $500 if you search around the classifieds section. I did. |

For some, the price of Dinan for the warranty issue, is worth the peace of mind.

If you do ANYTHING, a different FMIC, DPs, exhaust... it voids your dinan warranty according to their contract (if I'm not mistaken)

Im also debating on which one to get. On the Jb 3 or dinan do you have to change your intercooler or any other modfications in order for the car to run well with the tune? Or can you leave it straight stock?
thanks |

Seems like JB or other piggybacks are the way to go if you have the time it takes to clear codes, etc... (which doesn't take long)... but Dinan seems to be a hassle free upgrade... of course, you pay the price for not having hassle.

If you are only going to do 1 mod on your 335i; do the JB+. If you plan on more mod's get a piggyback. Only way I would get Dinan if it already came with the car. Matter of fact I think BMW should have put a JB+ in the glovebox of every 335i.

I'd also go for the JB+.
Gonna be selling mine on here before too long, to upgrade to the JB3. The JB+ is excellent for those wanting more, but in an easy to install (and even more important, uninstall) upgrade.

To give you another side of the argument:
I went with Dinan for the peace of mind and because money was not an issue. I have always been more than happy with the power but in retrospect maybe I would have bought a JB3 or something like that. Let's just put it like this: if my ECU ever has to be reflashed for an install or something, I'm gonna try out the piggybacks before I let them flash the Dinan back on |
