Just lowered the E90 w/H&R race springs...impressions, pics!
>>>New pics posted on page 2...19's...hells yes!!!<<<
Just got a smoking deal on these springs from DTM in LA...$350 installed! I know there are several pics posted already but mostly H&R "sport" drops, not the more aggressive "race" drop. My ride is a bone stock E90 sport package. Impression: Well you are probably going want to upgrade the dampers if your going to run these "race" springs. The springs are obviously overpowering the rebound of the OEM dampers...resulting in a mild, but noticable "bounce" over uneven surfaces. The ride quality is slightly diminished but the lower center of gravity/higher spring rates make turn-in and quick transitions feel more sporty, as-in less body lean and a more of a "direct" feel. The stance is worth the ever so slightly harsher ride quality over the "sport" drop to me. Once I get the 19's on next week there should be no fender gap at all. As for alignment...Im waiting to let the springs "settle" for a week or so and to get the new wheels on to get it aligned...hopefully Im not left w/too much neg camber. Ill keep the post updated after this happens. To be honest I thought the car would sit lower than it is, but overall Im satsfied with the purchase. For now Ill stick with the stock struts, but if you want the most out of these springs go with some Koni yellows or something comparable. Enjoy the pics! Here are the before and afters---> BEFORE: AFTER: ANOTHER AFTER: 19's are coming soon ... Last edited by jmlenz; 10-08-2006 at 04:44 AM.. |

The car looks great!!! (chrome wheels are not my style, but to each their own)
I have been thinking about droppoing my car, but I feel that if I want to do it, I should just do the coilovers to have more control over the suspension settings. At any rate... drop looks nice!!! |

Honestly, I would not want my car to sit any lower than it is. The dropped look reminds me of all the Honda Civics I see bouncing down the road. I can’t imagine that it is fun to ride in something like that.
I’m not trying to offend you, it’s just not my style…

Congrats on your drop. It's great to live in SoCal to get great deals like that on your springs.
I'm curious to know if your wheels are chromed or simply polished aluminum. |

IMHO H&R race is too agressive of a drop as compare to H&R sports or Eibach. Also, the compression ratio of the race is too strong for the zsp/stock dampers and it will create that bounce effect on uneven surface..you might want to think about upgrading your dampers soon to get the best performance out of them. Also, I find that too much of a drop is kind of a pain for a daily commute vehicle. Try driving around Dryer rd in Santa Ana and you'll know what I mean That's why coilover might be the best of both world..height and damping adjustabel..if I remember correctly, the highest height setting on the KW V2 is 1.2 front and 1.0 back, that's the same as Eibach and on the days you feel like slamming it..over 2" of drop

Thanks for the props everyone. The race drop is not for everyone, however in my opinion when the 19's go on, the more aggressive drop will fill the wheel wells MUCH better than the sport drop/eibach pro. And frankly, the car does not look that "slammed" in person and definitely not like "those hondas bumpin around." Dampers might be in the cars future if I keep it long enough. I go through about 3 cars a year on average. Loving the E90 so far though!
