This will force BMW to boost the N55 a little more... which is good.

$40000? Yikes. That's a lot. If it's American muscle you're after, you could get a g8 gxp for about that much, and it'll easily outperform this car.

Or if you want some more luxurious muscle you could shell out a bit more cash and get a 335i. Either way, you'll be getting a better car.

+1 it is not about HP! it is about power to wieght ratio! The new SHO IS A FAT PIG! Much like the new Camero 4000lbs, Challenger 4200lbs, etc...

But a ZO6 @ 505hp and 3050lbs is one fast car.

Nice in concept, and I am glad to Ford building something interesting rather than the historical boring stuff. However, all that being said the initial tests of this car have been mediocre at best. Performance is far less than would be expected, steering is numb, etc. Jalopnik had a review and in the end their conclusion was the SHO really didn't offer enough advantage for most people to justify the cost difference vs. the standard engine.

Not according to the first batch of tests on this car. If anything, the 335i is more likely to walk the SHO.

Exactly. Edmunds tested the SHO against a G37 and found that the G37 was quicker. Granted the notes mention a 7-12mph headwind but that still can't excuse the margin by which it lost to the G37. They also noted the numb steering and sub par brakes. And at $45K, their test vehicle was well into 335i territory. That's a lot of dough to put down on Ford, especially one whose performance turns out not to be all that spectacular.

don't forget they claim 350 horsepower and might put down about 300 to the wheels. BMW claims 300 horsepower and my stock 6MT dyno put down 291 RWHP. E92 335i weighs about 500 lbs less and has a little more RWTQ at almost the same RWHP. I wouldn't be too scared of this pig. Besides, I6 engines are typically much better for higher boost than V6's and always make more torque. I would be willing to be we can way out-mod them in the end... and look WAY sexier doing it

yea.. i see the defensive tone... but still... they are right....

Problem 1 is... america really does need to sell some f(&#(&% cars right now !!!

Problem 2 is... america can't build a car worth buying !!!!

4400 lbs... seriously ? that's just ridiculous (sure it hurts performace) but it's NOT NEEDED...

our 335s at about 3800 lbs are pretty damn heavy and they are solidly built... sad part is even newer american cars i've been in... ... they don't feel solid.. cheap, plastic, yet still tanks ?!?!?

the engine, props to them on that... at least it's something new.... creative, an attempt..etc... but overall american car mfg just don't get it...

props to the Z06, but there is nothing below that in the price chain that seems to exhibit any useful technology, or hell, even useful engineering for that matter.....

i would be thrilled if americans could produce a car that was somehow on par with a 335.... i have yet to see it though.... not defensive.. just sad....

It does or the federal govt would bust them, removing the vehicle from the road is the idea of the program.

There's SO much ignorance in this thread there's almost nowhere to begin

1. The Tarus is a big car now, almost the size OF A 7 SERIES.....which has always been over two tons.

2. It traps 103 mph in the 1/4 with AWD and an auto. It's underrated.

3. The interior is arguably better than ours.
