Non-RFT Winter Tires?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a set of winter tires for my 2006 325i, and am considering Non-RFTs.

I'm considering either the Continental ExtremeWinterContacts, or the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds.

Is their anything I should consider when going from a RFT to a Non-RFT?

The Continental ExtremeWinterContact comes in a XL, should I be looking for a Non-RFT tire with a high load rating?

Will these Winter Non-RFTs wear down any faster than Winter RFTs?

Planing to order a set from Tire Rack before the end of this month.

Please help!

RFT in general wear faster than non RFT equivalents. I have Dunlop Winter Sport M3s and love them, great traction and actually inspire confidence in snow driving.

I would call Tire Rack, the guys you talk to are the same guys who do the testing. They can help a great deal as they have expertise and they use 328i for their test cars.

I put conventional summer tires on my car and they are XL. I think they help to preserve sharp turn in. You don't have to use XL though because the e90 is not terribly heavy.

one thing to consider is that the xl rated tire has a stiffer sidewall and thatll make the ride harsher. i have the xl blizzaks and theyre a little rough. but i guess itll help prevent bubbles

There should be no difference in wear between the Runflat and non runflat winter tires. Load rating also a non-issue as any of the 205/55R16 or 225/45R17 have enough load capacity for the car.

LM25's are obsolete. They are replaced by the LM60.
