I'm starting to hate the fact that the middle door bars are not painted

After washing my new e90 2wice now, I noticed that the darn door posts are so dull  next to the shiny door frame and glass. Why couldn't BMW paint them so the whole damn door frame shines. I had to armorall it so it get some kind of shine. My old 318 had the same problem and after 5 years they start to fade. I might consider getting them painted at the shop....or hopefully Hartge or ACS can come up with a Carbon Fiber add on .......any thoughts???

My friend (black e46 sedan) had a *lot* of trouble with these black finish pieces on the sedan. The coupe does not have them thank dog. I have a coupe so out of curiosity, I started checking out Bimmers in parking lots, and sure enough a lot of the sedans looked pretty bad in this area. My advice is to keep them cleaned and protected somehow, don't ask me how. Because they will go chalky/oxidize and look like total crap otherwise. Please put some maintenance into these pieces or I guarantee you will regret it. On the e46 the long insert strips along the side of the roof had the same problem too.

( Normally, I'm a professional gentleman, but today my temptation to be "inappropriate" is a little high. )

Yeah baby,
You guys make me feel so good. I thought that I was the only person bitchin about the finger prints. My wife says that I act like a little bitch everytime that I wash the car b/c I get so pissed about the prints after I wash it.

Thanks, lol

The finger prints on the satin black drive me nuts too.

I have trained myself to close the door with the handle (what a concept )
BUT
It is nearly impossible to train the passenger to do the same.

Were they expensive to buy for the E46? And most importantly do they stop fingerprints?

Go see a dermatologist and take something to give you very dry skin. That would cut down on the finger prints

That, or stop using so much lotion!

Well they wernt cheap

I use some Meguiars trim detailer ( the type that keeps black parts black) on other BMW's with the matt black parts, and it keeps them looking good

Dont know why you are having a problem with them

BMW's have had them forever, and i have never had any problem

Do you wear some kind of lotion or sunscreen that may be rubbing off on the car ?

I'm hoping that BMW would come up with a high gloss shadowline for the E90 soon. It's an option on the E60 and E46 M3 where the door pillars and the trim that stretches to the black (the chrome on the E90) are painted in high gloass black. It'll look much better IMO.

You can order the high gloss shadowline for the E90 already, my SA checked the price with the national BMW office here, and it turned out more expensive that what you would pay to get Comfort Access(!) so i didn't order that option...

I use the exterior door handle to close the doors and I pull all the way down on the inside trunk handle until the truck shuts on it's own.
