You could spend $600 on a BMW tool to install your differential... OR... :)

....you could buy our new tool for $49.99

Check it out here:

http://www.ardesign.info/catalog/ard...ool-p-219.html

Features:
  • Available in a powdercoated black finish, and in stainless steel.
  • Features two 1/2" holes so you can properly torque the differential nut.
  • Precision cut from 1/4" thick plate steel for strength.
  • Thin enough to avoid any damage to differential seals - something common when using a ground down wrench etc.

Nice little tool for DIY differential installs at home, without the ridiculously expensive BMW tool.

Are you kidding me, BMW sells this for $600?!? That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard.

I believe their tool is a little different, but this certainly gets the job done just as well, and for much less money. It is quite a bit larger than the pic might give the impression of being - its 14in long.....

It's an easy job so long as : bearing races come out without a fight.

I had a junk-yard diff rebuilt.

The traces were ON THERE.
It had to send it off to PA to be machined off.

Exactly what I did!!!! Problem was, I spent over an hour grinding it down, and still couldnt get it thin enough - ended up damaging a seal, which I had to replace - and then I still couldnt attach a torque wrench to the nut to properly torque it - which drove me to create this tool.

Also, if you are on jackstands, the HF wrench is WAY too long....

When I had my Quaife installed at Metric Mechanics they made a 52mm wrench like that on the spot. Pretty cool to have a shop with the tools to be able to make just about anything.

How many millimeters is that bolt? I have a tool that I might be able to grind down? Just doesn't fit currently and don't wanna waste a tool grinding down the wrong size.
