What next?
Had a mooch round my local dealers today and am really struggling to come up with anything I'd want to swap the 330i for ...
..... I can't get that exited about the look of the e92 and it's a non-starter for me anyway because the lack of a third rear seat. ..... Spending money on a slightly newer saloon or even a 335i doesn't sound worthwhile ..... The e93 would be interesting, but they are overpriced (I guess the roof is an expensive thing to make) and the rear seat situation is worse than the e92 ..... 1 series is too small - although the 135i cab in the dealership looked fun ..... 5 series would be the way to go, but I've had one and it seems a bit boring ..... 7 series would be fun for a while, but it's a bit of an odd choice and I think I'd miss the handling of the 3'er ..... 6 series is about the only option left, but the back seats once again are a waste of time ..... e46m3 prices have shot up and are not worth it at the moment ..... e90m3 is too pricy for me. In the end, I can't think of a better option (from BMW at least) than sticking with my current car. What do you think? |

Simon, I have to say that you appear periodically to go through this phase of 'should I or shouldn't I' in relation to changing/keeping your car. It's almost like you can't let go of something you feel comfortable with or are perhaps wary of the unknown?
If BMW don't offer what you want, then what's stopping you buying another marque? You know me, no brand loyalty whatsoever I test drive what takes my fancy and make a judgement from there. I test drove the M3 again but chose the S5 in the end as anything after the Porsche was going to be a compromise and I wasn't prepared to compromise further shall we say. Personally (and being a woman am very good at spending your money ) I believe it's time for you to part company with the 330i and make the break........... |

Simon
It sounds like you really like the saloon and it must suit your current situation as you are quite happy keeping the one you have got? Why not look for an ex demo well spec'd LCi model, maybe a 335D or i? It would defo put a bigger smile on your face than the 330 and with the extra toys, newer improved Idrive and the LCi facelift would be quite an improvement over your current car. Your only here once mate! Go for it!! PS: With that theory in mind, fack it, go get an E90 M3 |

Stick with the 330i and wait until the new 5er comes out next year. Might see you on the F10 forum like I did on E60.

Steve's RS4 NOT boring and the RS6 I drove was not boring more possibly too refined but then it's a large executive saloon or very fast estate car aimed at a different market imo. |

RS4 is alive in your handsand lots of journos think its a better steer than the E92 M3, so defo not boring. The RS6 (was yours a C5 with TTV8?) all torque no steering feel but fast in a straight line. If we meet at UK9 you're welcome to have a drive. Helen did and was very complementary (ps helen can drive a bit)

Yes, C5 2004 RS6 TTV8, one thirsty monster!
Immense thrust onto, say a motorway slip road.

When I thought about changing the car 2 years ago, I was in negative equity and it was just too expensive. Then 1 year ago the economy broke. Right now, I'm not fussed. There isn't anything out there that seems to fit the bill. Quote:
I would like a 335i, but it doesn't feel like a significant enough change at the moment. Quote:
I reckon M3 fast may have hit on the way forward. Maybe I will wait a few more months and try to pick up an LCI 335i saloon. (but not Sierra Echo style). |
