Do you all agree that the V1 is the best out there? BMW Hono used to sell a radar defuser (was a license plate frame (just thicker) that screwed with HPDs guns/gave them false positives), but they no longer sell. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Also, does everyone hardwire them in? I've heard several go down passanger side into glove box/fuses, while others have said they hardwire directly into front/top lighting fixtures... Last edited by gucci22; 10-23-2009 at 08:12 AM.. Reason: Addendum made |

I have a V1, don't know if it works though. HPD doesn't use radar anymore, they haven't for the last 10 years. only laser now. laser doesn't deflect and bounce around like radar, making it extremely difficult to pick up BEFORE you've been tagged.
what i mean by i don't know if it works is that it's gone off a few times, but it probably went off as my car was being shot. so much for early detection huh. but i figure possible detection is better than none. btw, mine's not hardwired.

Don't waste your money on any kind of detection hardware!!!!! HPD doesn't use radar anymore. A laser detector will just notify you that you're going to get a ticket, because it only detects laser usage when the laser is on the car - the cop's got your speed already.
I have a laser blinder - has absolutely been the best mod I've ever done, on every one of my cars! go on ebay and buy a laser blinder Mxx (m20 is the one i have, so i don't have protection from the rear) It completely jams laser speed readers. cheers :P |

it's not illegal in the good 'ol state of hawaii-nei! also, just install it yourself, use rubbing alcohol and 3m double sided tape instead of drilling to mount the modules in the front, and wire it through the engine bay and into the glove compartment. woot

I have the V1. It isn't hardwired. The fuse tap method seems reasonably simple, but I'm just too lazy to do it. I didn't know that HPD didn't use radar anymore, which makes our V1 irrelevant since you can't detect lasers until it's too late anyways.
