Nokia N97 with E9x
I have an 07 E91 with factory built in hands free. Works great with BlackBerry including contacts down load etc.
Recently got an N97 (unfortunately) but whilst I can pair it with the car I get no contacts download and it drops out and reconnects every 5 minutes or so. Looking at other forums (N97 and other car related) this seems a common problem, but I've not seen any straightforward 'fix' instructions Thanks

I had an issue with my N96 a while ago, I went to Nokia who told me to upgrade the software and it was fine after that ......... not sure on an N97, but worth checking if there is a software upgrade available ?

I have a Nokia N86 and it pairs perfectly with the car and all contacts copy across. Make sure 'remote sim access' is enabled on the phone.

Thanks for the advice -
Phone updates - as up to date as Vodafone (provider) allows, though Nokia do have a later update, not yet available to Vodafone 'branded' handsets Remote SIM access on ON, but contacts are (I believe) in phone not SIM

Just found out that the N97 runs Symbian S60 5th edition operating system, whilst the N86 runs S60 3rd edition feature pack 2. Not entirely sure what that all means but confirms that our phones run different systems so might explain why mine works and yours doesn't. (Was hoping they might run the same as I know the N86 works!) On a side note, my mate is a business manager at a local BMW dealership. When he saw my new phone the other week he commented that it won't work properly with the car as the Nokia N series is known to cause problems. He was quite shocked that it worked OK as many of the models have problems pairing correctly. This may help you out though...... http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...sage.id=154339 http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...q&thread.id=97 Hope you sort it |

You may also need to update the software in the car on the Bluetooth module as there will most likely be compatibility updates available. It'll require a recode of the CCC and telematics

you have a blackberry and your contacts came up on the car? it doesnt work for me, it pairs fine but my contacts from the BB dont come up on the car telephone, its really annoying because i have to still go thru my phonebook on my phone to call anyone so its not really hands free...am i the only one having this problem? or is it just because my phone is not compatible with the car, but then why does it pair if it isnt ???

BlackBerry pairs and loads phone book contacts fine - and comes up on the i-drive screen
Not sure on the settings because the BlackBerry is 'office issue' and has all the settings 'locked down' by office IT police. All I know is that I create the pair and a few minutes later the phone book is there in the car. It also holds missed calls, received calls, made calls lists etc.

If a phone pairs ok but the phonebook does not copy across i assume you still get a number on the car screen if someone calls, you just dont get the name of the person as you would expect if the phonebook copied ok.
