Best place to buy genuine BMW parts in the UK

Hi everybody,

I imagine this may have been covered before, but a quick search of the forums didn't yield any obvious results.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend where I can buy genuine parts from other than the main dealer in order to save a few £££'s

I need new front discs / pads / sensors with a view to changing them myself.

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good indepedant BMW specialist in the Derby area?

Thanks

Everyone has to buy from the dealers, other traders / outlets just get more discount than us!!

You'll get 10% discount by asking nicely though, or for £45 you can join the BMW car club and get a guaranteed 10% off all parts, worth it if you'll be spending a few quid.

Else try:

You can also get some OEM parts from gsfcarparts.com. They stock parts made by the OEMs (Lemforder, Boge, Jurid, Hella etc) who make the parts for BMW. I've bought Lemforder suspension arms and bushes from them in the past and they were a lot cheaper than BMW's re-branded ones.

I've also used motormec.co.uk in the past for a complete OEM exhaust system for an E34, which was a BMW part and would recommend them.

Thanks for the replies chaps

I've also discovered www.eurocarparts.com they were mentioned in a thread somewhere on these forums that I eventually found. I can get front discs and pads + sensors for £167 from them.

The brand is Pagid, does anyone know if these are an OEM manufacturer for BMW or see any reason why I shouldn't go for these?

Cheers.

9inch,

If you want OEM parts for whatever reason, then you want parts from BMW with BMW written on them and a bill from BMW.

If you buy parts from another source, which may be the 'same' parts but not branded, then they are not OEM parts, so there is no benefit in sticking with those parts.

You may as well abandon the OEM requirement and just get decent aftermarket parts instead.

But if you want OEM parts for warranty / resale value etc, then they MUST be BMW original IMO

By definition they are OEM parts if the OEM is not BMW.

Agree that buying them in a BMW box is safest for warranty purposes though.

I recently bought a fuel filter from AJS Autoparts for £12.99 plus postage. This is significantly cheaper than the dealer and was a genuine BMW part in BMW box.

There is this guy who walks into a bar and notices a man 9 inches tall playing the piano. He asks what it is all about and the barman tells him he'll tell him later.

So he asks the barman for a drink and the barman says,
'Before you get your drink you get to rub the magic beer bottle and make a wish.'

'OK,' says the guy.

He goes to the bottle and rubs it and, boom, out comes a genie, who says,
'You have one wish.'

The man thinks about it and then wishes for a million bucks. A cloud of smoke fills the room and when the smoke clears there are a million ducks crowding the bar.

He tells the barman,
'Hey, I didn't want a million ducks.'

The barman replies, 'You think I wanted a 9-inch pianist?'

I agree, but nearly all servicable items are made for car manufactuerers by 3rd party suppliers, but 'OEM' contract terms dictate that for example, Ferodo, have to make brake pads with 'BMW' printed on them so no one knows who actually made them.

So in this context OEM means 'what your car was built with' or 'BMW' IMO
