Major brake problem...
Today, while pulling away from a stop after dropping off a colleague at his office, my car made this HUGE squeeling metal-on-metal sound coming from the front wheels (we believe it was the right wheel). It sounded horrible. I backed up, same sound. Pumped brakes, still the same. Turned car on and off, turned off DSC, no solution.
My office is three buildings down so I "limped" it home - waking dogs in a 300 mile radius. I parked it, and ironically, starting it up 20 minutes later, the problem was gone. Any idea what the problem is? This car has already spent 8 days at the dealer ship out of 90. I've had the a/c fail, inoperable bluetooth (solved) and power inconsistency/hesitation problems (not solved). |

could it be that your piston had siezed in your caliper for some reason? Shot in the dark, I realize, but I've heard of that problem happening to other people.

Is the AudiA4 the car you drive while the dealer has your new E90 for almost as long as you have??? Hope you have all your outstanding issues solved very quickly.

It is not entirely uncommon to pick up a pebble and have it wedge itself in the brakes (usually between the dust shield behind the rotor and the rotor itself). It probably unwedged itself when you drove off the second time.
If you don't see any signs of scoring on the rotors from extreme heat or debris, I'd be fairly confident it was just a little pebble. |
