DISGUSTING

"This weekend critics said the £1,600 payment — £83,000 a year — was “excessive”"

Really?

Almost unbelieveable.

It's no wonder the country is going to the dogs.

It's a scam. The landlord is doubling the rent, because he knows that the Govt will pay it.

The other outrage is that the inspectors considered a 5 bedroom home to be too small for the family.

My wife is from a family with 6 kids. They grew up in a 3 bed house and shared rooms, because they couldn't afford not to.

There are many thousands of hard working families in the UK whose children have to share bedrooms because they can't afford bigger properties. This is a fact of life for everyone. Or rather it should be.

I have no problem with asylum seekers and don't see why they should not be able to claim housing benefit. But not in this way.

I have no issue with asylum, or with a benefit system that puts a roof over peoples heads if they are in difficulty.

But these people have been here since 1991 - 18 years - they appear to have no jobs but are being paid to live near the West End and appear to have the means for leather sofas and big TVs.

Why do they get a choice of living in that location - why not in the cheapest empty housing available? It doesn't appear as if they have jobs in the centre that require it?

This is nearly £100k/year for one family - the total cost of this madness must be immense! Surely they could be housed for under £15k/year easily - maybe not in London but so what?

Am I missing something?

It's obviously nuts. If I was a cynical man I would suggest that they were doing a deal with the landlord and splitting the profits.

Welcome to the United Kingdom, shaped by 12 years of Blair and Browns New Labour experiment.... if these kind of benefit scroungers can't get was is 'rightly' theirs then they can always fall back on the HRA paid for by Legal Aid. However, I agree that the benefits system should be there as a safety net for those in most need but this is totally outrageous.

And we wonder why so many asylum seekers camp at Sangatte and Calais trying to get into the 'land of riches'!
