17" Don't Fit!
Hey guys. Just bought a 2010 335xi e92. I also got the M-Sport package with it and because it comes with performance summer tires, I wanted to put my old Hankook iPikes (17" snow tires) from my EVO on the bimmer. I bought a set of 17" rims for winter that were really inexpensive before I collected the car because I knew that the stock wheel size on a e92 is 17".
So, I collect the car and right away it looks like the brakes upfront look like the fill the entire wheel well of the 18" sport wheels. Go to try and put the 17"s on and it deffinitly won't fit. Total scrapeage. Is this normal or did the 17" wheel I bought have a smaller I.D. than other 17" wheels? Please help! |

It's the offset of the wheel and the spoke design that is not allowing clearance of the caliper. You're either going to have to go get some spacers or the more expensive route of new wheels.

There are only a handful of 17" wheels that fit over the brakes.

OEM 17" will fit, you could look for some used ones.

just get spacers and call it a day. you dont have to spend more money to clear brakes. my ultraleggeras wont clear the stock brakes on my girls B5 S4 but theyre decently expensive. just get your offsets right

i had the same problem with my witner 17s
mine are staggered offsets on a 17x7.5 wheel, +40 and +20. The +20 wheels cleared the brakes front and back, but the +40 wheels didnt clear front nor back. I am currently running the +20 wheel up front and the +40 wheel with a 25mm spacer (final offset of +15) out back. No scraping issues at all now, and theyre almost flush. Next winter I will be running the +15 on the front and a 12mm spacer with the +20 wheel out back to get them about a mm away from rubbing Hope that helped a little

i dont know the stock offsets, but you most likely will need a more agressive offset then the stock wheels have. Reason being is the stock wheels are made with the big brakes of the 335 in mind, these aftermarket wheels are not.
The spacing inside the wheel is most likely different. With my winter wheels I can actually see where the inside of the wheels gets big enough to clear the brakes

Since the OP seems to have his response, I was wondering if you guys could help me with a similar question. Someone local to me has some cheapie "Sport Edition" brand D3 wheels with nice, new snow tires on 'em for cheap. She says they were mounted on an 08 328xi. They're 225 45R 17 tires on ET+38 offset 7" wide wheels. Sounds mighty close to what the OP was using, but they fit on another 3 series. Is there any way to tell if these wheels would fit on an 07 335i Sport Package? i.e., are the rotors way bigger?

325i and 328i fits 16". 330i fits 17", has 330mm front brakes, and the 335i fits some 17" aftermarket wheels with it's 348mm front brakes.

Thanks Gary. On Tire Rack, when I click on the "D3" wheels without selecting a car first, all I get is a pic with no dimensions. When I select my car, the D3 is not one of the wheel options. Does that mean it definitely doesn't fit, or just that you haven't checked the fit on that particular combo?
