Found a part under my hood and don't know what it is...can someone help?!?!?

I found this part under my hood and I don't know if it's important or not. Can someone help me?

If you can't read the text on the piece it states

BMW

>PBT-GF20<

Here are some pics of the part.

I think it's the Flux Capacitor. Just don't drive over 88mph before you have it checked out.

I think it is just a cover to one of the sensors under the hood. I would search around under the hood and see if you see anything that is missing a cover.

Don't know about other years, but on the '09s that cover is bright red and attached with a tether. But that's about the right size.

Its a connector end cap. They're installed on a connector that is not in use so that it dosent get any water or anything like that in the connector.

That might be the connector cap that is removed when installing the alarm front hood switch.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be the battery cap...can anyone point me in the general direction of the alarm front hood switch?

You're a genius! It was indeed the connector cap they removed when installing the alarm front hood switch.
