Question tire rack help

I need help determining the correct tire size for my 325i. I bought a 2006 325i without sport package. It has stock 205/55 16 tires. I bought 20 inch Moda wheels from Tire Rack, but haven't gotten the tires yet. The website recommended 245/30 20 in front and 285/25 20 rears. I checked the calculations and the recommendations seem to be about an inch taller than the stock tire. Shouldn't I go with a 225/30 20 and 255 25 20 in the rear? The wheels are 20 by 8.5 and 9.5 (both ET 32).

Also, I bought a second set of the same rims for my e46 M3 (2002 vert). These wheels were not recommended from the site to fit my M3, but I fit them without tires when I got my first set last night (which caused me to order a second set). I noticed that the 19s I had on there now are also 8.5 and 9.5, but the front is ET40 and the rear is ET20. The rear seemed to have about 2 fingers on the inside of the wheel well at the closest point, so I assume they will fit with tires. The fronts seemed to have room also, but I didn't turn the wheel to see if there would be a problem. I did lower my car a little. I have Koni SA Sports with H&R adjustable springs. Why did Tire Rack website not recommend these wheels (20 by 8.5/9.5 ET 32) for my e46? What should I be aware of when trying to install?
Thanks.

There's no such thing as 255/25/20. Smallest is 285/25/20 from most tire brands, I've seen Dunlop make a 275/25/20 though.

So if I understand you correctly, Tire Rack recommends 285/25 because they don't make the correct size for the e90? Does anyone correct the tire size in the computer then?

I have to say: avoid 20s. Other than that, Remmib is spot on re sizes.

Any reason for this? I am guessing because of weight and tire selection, but your statement was pretty generic.
