Tint locations
Hey guys!
I'm finally going to get my windows tinted. Anyone know of any good places to deal with? I'm really looks for a place that knows about the dot matrix and ways to deal with it. I'm most likely going to go with 35% all around. Post up where you got tinted guys!(Pics always help)

no place can get the back window of an E92 perfect. Call around, ask the shop specifically about a 2 door 3 series and make sure know about the dot matrix before you bring it anywhere. Then just learn to live with how it comes out.

no matter where you go the dot matrix is always going to be an issue. if you're interior is light you can go darker than 35% (just ask ibeclueless) but 35% is safe.
i have a guy that's really reasonable but the dot matrix is going to tough to deal with for him.

I think I remember someone posting on here that someone pretty local was able to sand the dot matrix down.
If I could do it over again, I'd maybe try sanding it myself. -D

Some of those posts just scare right into not getting it. I'm way too anal of a person to deal with blotchy tint on the dot matrix. I will look into the luxurydetails place and see if they will sand the matrix down/vinyl over it. Thanks for all the replies so far!

Tint King in Billerica or Eastern Glass Tinting in Charlestown.

Tint King FTW. he wont shve the dot matrix but he can cover it with vinyl. i did neither and it looks fine once it dries. also think about getting a non ceramic film which is thinner than a ceramic. thinner film will leave less of the dot matrix showing

Mike's Signs off of School St. in Lowell, Ma. does VERY good tint work. I've been going to him for years and I've never had a problem with any of the 3 cars he's done for me. Very reasonable prices too. Even though the E92's are very difficult to work with because of the DOT matrix, Mike did a fantastic job making the issue almost un-noticeable. He carefully sanded down the matrix and was very meticulous in using the right amount of heat, pressure, and water/solution to make it look the best on my E92. The place is really kinda hidden in a back alley sketchy area but trust me, these guys take real good care of your car (he has a 335 of his own so he respects peoples cars as he would his own car). For any bubbled area from the Dot matrix still showing, he'll custom cut and lay a perfect strip of black vinyl across the top while you're at the shop and you will never even notice that its there. Hit me up if anyone has any questions.

Tint King in Billerica. They will not do anything illegal and will be up front about the dot matrix problem. They did all my cars and even my office building.

Tint King will definitely put on illegal tint if you want it, you'll just have to pay in cash. Like others have said, even the best installers won't be able to get the tint to adhere to the dot matrix 100%. I'm not a fan of seeing the vinyl from inside the cabin, but to each his own.

E90's don't have the same issues as E92's. Tint King has done all my cars. The E92 dot matrix is what it is, they all look bad not matter what you do nothing will be perfect.

agree and that's why i've learned to live with the dot matrix issue because i want tint....IMO, it's almost like your first bumper scratch, you're extremely irate but then u get another and you're no longer as upset as the very first scratch.

One more vote for tint king in Billerica. They did a great job on my old car (subaru WRX). I can't say that they are better than others, but only that my experience there was positive.
