Michael Schumacher is back !!!

As widely predicted, it seems Herr Schumacher is going to be back racing F1 in 2010 with Mercedes, previously Brawn Racing, and with Ross Brawn at the helm again !!

I wonder what the odds are of him winning the title again in his first year back?!

What with Hamilton and Button fighting it out, Shumi might slip in through the backdoor

I think Lewis is going to find it really tough next year. Button's going to push him really hard and that might cause Lewis to make a few mistakes. And Schumacher will definitely shake things up - the Mercedes engine is stonking and if the chassis underneath is even the slightest bit good, that F1 car will be in contention with him behind the wheel. The team I worry about is Ferrari - just can't see where the race speed and consistency is going to come from.

When an F1 driver retires, why don't they stay retired?

I think it's got the making of a classic F1 year. The guy obviously still has something or he wouldn't get the seat (bar politics & Bernie's torture techniques).

They are a few other 'older' F1 drivers that could wipe the floor with some of 2009 grid. Nothing wrong with 40+ (Sikk )

People say Beckham should hang up his boots, but I am sure everyone wants to see him in South Africa next year! So why not get the chance to see the best modern day F1 driver compete again.

He is fitter (at 41 next year) than what Mansell and Prost were when they won there last (Mansells case only) titles.

He may have had a 3 year break from F1 but he has not just sat there. he has been competing in various forms of motorsport.

He has raced bikes and Karts so he isnt going to need to sharpen up at all. (Karting is the most competative form of motorport in the world)

I just hope the car is competative as id love to see him win the title next year. I have always followed schumacher since he started in F1.

I cant see Ferrari's drivers and also Maclaren drivers working together Harmoniously. This combined with Schu in a quick Merc could hopefully cause a stir!!!

Amazing news and very good for the sport. I also worry about Ferrari - not 'cos of Schuey and or Button/Hamilton - just because they were so poor this year.

Schuey's return will certainly be interesting. Could be a classic year.

Maybe a silly question but what is the team going to be called - will they drop the Brawn GP name?? Sorry if this is an ignorant question, i love F1 but not that knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the sport. Just wondered if him and Niko will be driving under the Brawn GP name or just simply Merc?? If just Merc, then does that mean Brawn GP disappear completely if Ross goes???

Ok - ive just read the statement on PH - and i can now see that Mike will be driving for the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team - but then who or what is the "Silver Arrows Team???" - im obviously being a big thicko but how can a team have 2 names?? And i STILL cant work out what happens to the Brawn GP team OR if all the Brawn GP team just simply merge into becoming the Merc GP Petronas team, then what happens to the Brawn GP name and all the livery and logos etc - does it just all get thrown in the bin??
