Anyone with families? Room issues?

Im wonder how those of you with children are dealing with roominess issues with the E90. Do you use it as a daily commuter? Im in the process of negotiating a purchase, but want to look at all variables...

2 Kids, son is 5 and daughter is 10. No complaints from them......and believe me they're not backward in coming forward......!!! While the boot/trunk space is good, I think we'd struggle if we used it to go on holiday/vacation....but then my wife doesn't know the meaning of travelling light......

Have you (or anyone else out there) tried fitting a rear-facing car seat in the back? I just wonder how well they fit, and whether the front seats need to be moved abnormally forward in order to install one.

Me, wife, and 5yo fit great. We've gone to grandpa's cabin a few times, with two suitcases in the back and DVD to entertain Harlee. 5 people is a little more, since somebody has to ride b1!ch in the back.

My wife uses it as her daily driver with our daughter 5 yr old in the back seat, everything is just fine.

I have a 5 month old baby in a rear facing seat and the fit is fine, she usually sits behind the driver so there is plenty of room. If there wasn't enough room we would put her behind the passenger like she has to in my wife's 1 -series.
If you need even more room then get a 5-series which is even bigger in the back than the 3, which I suppose is stating the obvious and the way it should be.

I also use a baby seat in the back and it is fine....if you are very tall then the person behind you will have very little leg room but the leg room in the back is great if you are under 6 feet....I am 6' 4"....so the baby seat is put behind me....also the car is still comforatable for 4 but gets very crowded if you put 3 in the back.....

my 2 cents...

Too small a car in my opinion for family trips out. We only have one little one at 2 years old but all the luggage and pushchair etc its too small for us. The boot is too small for golf clubs as well. It ends up sitting on the drive most of the time as we use a peope carrier for 95% of trips. (BMW used only for work)

I'd LOVE a 5-Series, but the jump in price is a bit too much at this point. But, maybe next time......

I just need to convince the wife that it meets our size requirements (2 adults, one 3 year-old, and a baby in March). As long as it's even the slightest bit roomier than our A4, I think we will be fine.

Fitting 3 child seats was a little awkward in my E46. Now that they are grown up (11, 8, 6) they fit fine. Tried them out in the E90 on a test drive and they seemed to have a bit more room, and more stuff to keep them interested (better stereo, etc.). I am 6'2", put the seat all the way back, and there is no problem, although whoever is behind me has to turn their feet diagonally, a bit tough for ingress/egress and long travel. We use the Honda Odyssey (van) for most family outings though. Planning a long euro trip next summer in an ED E91 (or 335); planning on packing light, especially if we get the E90.

Relatively short drives - fitting four not a problem. I drive around my two kids (11 and 13) on the weekends and space-wise they are fine. But if I think it would be awfully tight if I were taking an extended trip with a fourth person (no, not the ex!) plus luggage. Btw, comfort-wise for drives longer than 40 minutes or so - the 11 yr old complains a lil about a slightly sore ass - and I don't have SP. Could be my driving...or could be she's got an overly sensitive ass! (j/k - i love 'em!)
