Tires are Over Inflated After Returning from Dealer

Last week, I had my front two tires replaced under warranty by my dealer. The BMW tech said my rear tires are fine. When I checked my tire pressure this morning (car was parked in garage all night), I noticed my front tires were set to 33 PSI and my rear tires were at 38 PSI. This is definitely not the recommended cold PSI on the sticker in my driver's side door. Do you think my dealer over inflated my tires to counteract the RFT wear problems that I and others on this board have been reporting before?

I have the sport pkg with 17" Bridgestones. Should I deflate to 29/32 PSI?

Doubt it. 33 is probably fine, as is 29. They prolly inflated to 33 because they're assuming you're not going to check your pressure on a daily basis and in a couple of months it'll be at 29.

Front 32/Rear 39 is the recommend pressures for heavy loads or >160km/h speeds. So it's definately within specs. If the ride is not a problem, don't worry about it and just remember to monitor the tire pressure regularly.

when i went to the bmw driver's training which they offer in canada, the instructors kept saying to us that we should over inflat the tires from the manufacture's recommended pressures, because of less inflated tires are more "comfortable"

they said their 330i with sport packages 17" tires had like 38f/40r psi in them, they claimed that you will get better steering response, steering feel, cornering performance, but harsher ride and minimal decrease in braking feel

seems like bmw likes to over inflate tires, anyone else heard this?

Well, when you're tracking your car you want your tire pressure at around 40 (with 18s) hot for those reasons. I have 18s and I'm running 38F, 37R. For 17s, you can do 36s all around and adjust it to your preference. 33/38 is set for a large amount of understeer, which is "safer" in daily driving.

To the OP, 29/32 is too low imo, just deflate the rears to 36s and see how it feels.

I have inflated all my tires to 38 psi, and have enjoyed a very comfortable ride, and no apparent premature wearing down of the tires. I believe the recommended pressures are too low, and should only be used if you want a very cushy ride.

I've inflated all tires to 40 psi, I think too much is better then too low
