Fastest car you have ever driven.

Ive driven a lot of properly quick cars.

Quickest I rekon is a Porche 911 turbo with 550HP (996) which is close with the New RS6.

What about you?

Quickest stuff I have driven was at Palmersport, quickest of all was probably the Formula Palmer Audi ...

http://www.formulapalmeraudi.com/about-fpa/car.aspx

The corporate day ones were not race spec and the overboost was disabled. However they still managed 60 in under 3 secs and had around 550hp per tonne.

Palmersport have replaced them now with a Jag engined version which is noticeably slower. Still mental though:

I see that they are running M3's now as well. I'm sure that would be fun!

Exactly the same as above, my favourite is the JP1, absolutely epic acceleration and handling.

Fastest roadcar in acceleration terms would be an Ariel Atom 300, highest top speed would be my current car, 170ish on gps

My soon to be father in law's Vantage, although the weather meant I didn't get chance to try it properly!

His RS4 would be a close 2nd.

What I found most interesting about Palmersport was the reality of just how it feels to drive a fast car REALLY fast. Something you just can't do on the road.

I drove my mates 4.5ltr TVR Chimaera when he had one and really enjoyed it.

More recently another mates 997 carrera. Which I think is one of the ultimate everyday sports cars. I was so easy to drive either quickly or just pootling around withnthe other traffic

Quickest I have been is in a 996 Turbo - indicated 188 through Belgium on the way to the 'ring.

Fastest car I've driven - Ultima - undoubtedly quicker than the porker, although I didn't have the space or conditions to open it up anything close to the speed managed in the Porsche.

My M3 is the quickest car I have driven over a period of time.

Driven an M5 touring and that was quick. Done a track day in a Fezza 360 but that was no quicker than the M3. Built a lotus 7 type kit car years ago that weighed little but had a Ford Sierra 2.0 efi in it, that was quick (0-60) at the time.

Had plenty of quick 'ish' cars over the years, but none that you would call out and out fast in comparison to todays stuff and certainly none a match for the M3

Quickest car I had driven was the G Power Supercharged E92 M3 manual we did last year.

We have just finished a E92 M3 DCT with the same Supercharger kit and its faster still due to the DCT gearbox.

The fastest standard car I have driven is 996 GT2.

Ferrari 360 round Bruntingthorpe, great but was amazed at how duff the auto gearbox was compared to my DSG in the Audi I owned at the time!
