DIY-remove/replace wiper blade.

I know that we all get 4yrs/50,000 miles free maintenance (for US) on our 3 series car. This free maintenance also covers your wiper blade should it needs replacement. But long after the 4yrs/50,000 miles has expired, you will need to know how to replace the wiper and save yourself some money. As with any DIY, do it at your own risk. Tools needed are new wiper inserts and a cold beer (or beers) for after the job. Enjoy.

Great write up...I was wondering myself. My driver's side plastic cover is not 100% straight (from the factory), always bugged me.

One more for the Master DIY list ...

Thanks...Now you can compare and see if you can correct it or if there are any clips or tabs that are broken which you can get replaced for free due to bad installation from BMW.

Awesome, will check in on it soon. Quite some time ago, I had tried to push it in and wiggle it but it wont click back in. But now with your DIY, I can methodically partially disassemble it and see what's up....

I got new wipers at 6K miles but it was an accident, I was on a automatic car wash and I turn them on by accident and the car wash broke one of them so I went to the dealer and told them that I was on the highway and sunderly the wiper broke away, and they put a new set and it was cover by the warranty

You are lucky only the wiper blade broke and not the entire full wiper arm extension. See, and everyone say the dealer is bad. They do stuff just to make you happy at times too and not give you a hard time. They did not question you about why it broke away right.

I took my car in to have the wiper replace last week. SA questioned me and wonder why I want to replace my blade so soon. I just told them it has been over a year and it is worn (had car for 1.5 yrs and 27,000+ miles when I got wiper replaced). The new wiper blade is really quite and smooth operating compare to the old one. Glad I had it replaced. Someone pointed to me that the manual said to replace the wiper blade every six months.

Unlike in the US, there is no free maintenance in Canada. I was somewhat shocked that my dealer wanted CA$160 for new wipers for E90.

When the wipers are renewed, do the whole blades or just the inserts get replaced?

Can someone help me with the part numbers? (I was unable to find them on realoem.com) I hope to order some inserts or blades from the US.
