for those keeping their oem rft

I was wondering if any of yall still have the oem rft and how many miles you have on them. I have 330i sprt 18" rft with 27,000+ miles on them. Both rear are about to turn slick and front are still good. Will need to change the rear out next month. I have been asking around and the rear 18" tire is $330 (just tire and does not include mounting fee).

Here is front...

I have 27000 on my 325i and my rfts are still good for another 4-5000 at least.

I know, they are really slippery in the wet but great in dry. I have to drive very gently in the wet with my current rear tires. I think I can get more use out of them. Waiting to see if tirerack have the rear out of backorder yet status yet.

I already have traction problems with the rears, I couldn't imagine how bad they'd be that worn down.

15k and the inside of my fronts are feathering (proper term? the tread blocks have little splits all running parallel to each other) pretty bad and are going to need to be replaced in the 5k I'm guessing. They might actually last a little longer, but they've got me worried.

Rears are looking okay surprisingly. But like I mentioned, they don't have crap for traction in the wet, or when the sun isn't out.

I don't have feathering at all. Damn, what kinda speed limit you have in your town? I can understand in the wet but on dry concrete/paved road, should be good (not excellent) traction. I have the same sport package as you and manual transmission as well. They are noisy tires tho as they wear out. Unfortunately, there is no other rft I can use in this size if I go with rft so i will be buying the same tire as replacement (no other manufacturer makes this size for rft).

Not a tire engineer but I'd think a similar quality (tread, compound, etc.) RFT would have better performance (not necessarily ride) than a non RFT - with the stiffer sidewalls I would think that more of the tire would actually be on the road during turns etc. yes ? no?

I think so too, a stiffer wall helps alot in cornering. I don't mind the harsh sprt ride of rft. I bought this car because I really like the way it feels behind the wheel. I am not a fan of cadilac smooth ride.

Did you check tirerack for a better price? Mounting fee would probably be like $20-30 from a local shop. You'd probably also want to get an alignment as well after.

Yeah, I checked tirerack. But the shipping fee comes to play. I don't think I need alignment, wear is very even on both rears and both front. I have not made any changes to my springs. Alignment on bmw are not cheap.

Yeah the RFT would benefit better for those who drive hard but a better ride with Non RFT's and maybe longer wear with the Bridgestones rating at 140.

I am too lazy to get the penny. But this will give you a good idea on how worn out they are. They have reached the depth marker (yellow circles). Now look at the brand new tires photo, you can see how much tread I have left (or should I say the lack of tread on my tire).

I am way below the red (replace) indicator on the depth gauge. New tires have 10/32" tread depth.
