Can a new 3 06 out handle a 350Z?

Hi Guys,

Even through they are different class of cars I was wondering if a 2006 330i or 325i with sports package can out handle a 350Z in precision driving. Thanks

I'll bet my Power Ranger toy collections on the 350Z.....I don't think the 330i have enough horsepower to keep up with 300hp Lady Z.........and she's built as a sports car!

The E90 and Z are fundamentally different cars. You can't really compare them fairly. My money's on the Z in this case, though...

The only thing that the 3 series can out handle is other cars in the same class.

True, people need to realize 3 series is not a sports car or designed to race. But I am assuming the Z4 or M series can easily match it?

looking at an older motortrend july 05

350Z roadster 66.2 MPH thru the slalom 5.8 sec to 60
Z4 roadster 69.6 MPH thru slalom 5.7 to 60
530 sport 67.1 MPH thru slalom 6.8 to 60
M3 comp pack 66.6 thru slalom 4.8 to 60

The 350Z doesn't deserve as much respect as you're giving it, it can't outslalom a 5 series

actually it is designed with racing in mind... considerations are made for the M models and the touring cars that follow right from the start.

now a drag race between a 350z and a 330i would go the way of the 350z it seems like.. but around a racetrack it may be a different story... We'll have to see what kind of times the E90 puts around the nurburgring, but the 350z never put any kind of impressive times out there. I dont understand why there is so much hype around the 350z, I guess because it is punishingly fast.. but around a race track, its not as fast as peoples image of it.

German horses have always seemed "bigger" than Japanese horses, if you get my meaning

And yeah, drag-race is one thing, cornering another, but I won't be challenging any 350Z's, especially with a 325i.

if i remember right there was a comparison lately with a z4 in a german car magazine. BUT the 350Z was not that impressing. i remember that because i like the look of the 350z and thought of buying a used one. but after that article and some other driver-posts the car is not on my 'best-list' anymore.

I don´t know about outhandling. But I do know about outrunning. I´ve outrun a buddy with a 350Z in my old E46 330Ci SMG on the autobahn. The Z had slightly better acceleration, but I´d pass him at about 152mph when his limiter kicked in. Since my E90 is even faster at high speed, the 350Z should be easy to outrun

Assuming drivers are of equal ability the 350Z. I "tangled" with a Z a couple of years ago in my ZHP. He tried to leave me in the dust on a mtn rd, but I had no probs keeping up with him running at about 80%. I just drove my car better then he drove his Z.

I'll tell you what, even if the Z can outrun the E90, I'd still stick to the BMW, no question.

how is that?? if all 350Z's have the same HP, even the base model

the only 350Z with extra HP is the 30th anniversary, which somehow seems to end up taking more time to get to 60 than the regular versions of the car in every magazine test I've read.

the 3 series is not a true "sports car" but neither is the 350Z since it's friggin heavy like lead due to being based on the G35 platform.

Even though the 3 is a 4 door I think most would be surprised how they're every bit as capable handling wise as any 350Z

LOL!?

had a 350Z track model. the track gets a limited slip and better suspension with better tires. so that adds to accleration. HP isnt everything. seen plenty of videos of 350s taking down M3s on the track.

what i dont get is that some here are saying that the 350 will win...this is the same group that says no way to the G35 coupe or sedan. well the coupe is faster then the 350z....and the sedan weighs less then the coupe...well the 2003 did..dont think it does anymore.

anyway, you see where i am going
