Interior Trim Swirl Marks

Hey all,

Just started noticing that my interior trim pieces seem to be getting what looks like swirl marks! I have the standard black trim.

Are the possible to remove and what can I use to do so? Some direction would be greatly appreciated!

Joe

I've noticed the same on my car as well lately (I also have the gloss black trim). I'd be interested to see what people recommend.

You can mask and polish or remove the trim and polish it with a final polish or hit it with a glaze to fill in the swirls a bit. It's clear coated, just like your paint is. After that I usually wax mine to shine it up a bit.

So it should be treated in the same/similar way that you'd treat your car's paint? Intersting. I might give it a try. I have glossy black as well, and slight swirls are beginning to become evident.

Yep, as PINeely said it's got a thick layer of clear on it and can be taken care of almost exactly like your paint. Hit it with a finishing polish and wax (carefully and by hand) for some seriously clean trim. Masking is a good idea so you don't get polish/wax everywhere. Doing this makes a noticable difference on light/dark burl or piano black.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try it out when the weather warms up enough to clean up my interior again.
