Tires for CSL 18" 9.5" +22 offset
I'm seriously considering buying a set of staggered Velocity CSL reps from **********s. I've been debating between 19's and 18's, and the way I see it, I'm leaning towards 18's because they are $150 less a set, better performing due to less rotational inertia, and according to the website, I can go with the more aggressive E46 M3/E90 offset of +22 http://www.**********s.com/product.a...id=velocity007.
The page for 19's doesn't say anything about the +22 offset rear wheel being E90 compatible. Now I know +22 in the rear is really aggressive, and I don't want it to rub under any conditions. Would 265/35YR18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s be alright, and if not, would 255/40YR18s be too stretched? Would choosing a 255 width tire in, say, a 55 or 45 aspect ratio compensate for this? Phoenix/Scottsdale's roads aren't bad by any means, but I don't want to be riding by millimeters of rubber on a ticking time bomb should I hit a curb or perform an emergency maneuver or the like. For the front tires, I've tentatively chosen 235/40YR18s. There shouldn't be any issues with those, considering the +40 offset, right? Also, I may choose to lower the stock sport suspension on H&R sport springs at a later date. Do any of you have an idea of how the clearance (or lack thereof) will be? Thanks in advance! Anyone have any insight on this issue? Am I just better off getting the +40 offset rears and using a 10 or 12mm spacer?

im running 19x9.5 +22 in the rear with oem sport suspension and 265/30/19 toyo tr1's. not rubbing now but will lower my car soon. i may rub a little after that but i think i can get away with it if i switch to 255/30/19 tires in the rear.
this offeset is very aggressive and you will most likely rub with the tire sizes you mentioned. if you plan to lower your car, you should probably stick to an apsect ratio of 30 or 35. you can try 265/30 or 35/19 or 255/30 or 35/19. other members have tried my offset and tire size combo with oem sport suspension but with different brand tires and rubbed a little....so ...i'm guessing certain brands stretch more than others. a buddy of mine has a similar offset in the rear (not sure what it is exactly, but pretty agressive by the looks of it) used to rub like crazy over the smallest bumps, but recently switched to 255/30/19 tires in the rear, perelli's i think, no more rubbing. his car is lowered on eibach pro-kit hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any pics of your setup, or know if the +22 offset extends the wheel edge past flush with the fender?
The Goodyears I want have offsets no lower than 35. According to the calculator, if I go with 255/35/18s, the overall diameter will be the same as my 161 255/40/17s, but stretching out that low a profile of tire with the same width across an extra inch of wheel is disconcerting, and I don't want that stretched out anemic look. Going with 255/40/18 tires yields a 1" increase in diameter, while 265/35/18s yield only a 0.27" increase. So if the offsets are not too extreme, I think I'll be going with 265/35/18s in the rear and 235/40/18s in the front...guess I'll have to worry about the lowering issues later |

I haven't had time to take new pics, but i took these a while back. i think the +22 sits pretty flush with the fender, doesn't stick out past the fender that's for sure. i think the aspect ratio you have should work because that's the same as the oem 162's. your setup should work, you'll probably want to lower your car after u put on rims because the gap in the wheel well will be pretty visible. i think the eibach pro-kit or the vogtlands will work for agressive offets because they don't lower the car too much, most conservatives drops i've found so far.

Thanks a lot man. Mike from **********s also echoed your statements about the offset and tire choice, so I'm pretty confident in the setup. I'm afraid this will be the beginning of a chain reaction of modding!

thekewl1, post some new pics once you get your car lowered. i'm interested in seeing how a 9.5" wide wheel with a +22 offset will sit.

Definitely post pics when you get your setup lowered! This thread is no longer relevant as I decided due to availability to switch to 19's...little did I know, it would be two weeks until the wheels arrived (which was yesterday) and another week before they will ship! Should be very slightly less aggressive diameter-wise however (0.04 inches or 1mm, lol)
